Easy Wobbly Paper Polar Bear Winter Craft

Looking for a cute winter craft for your toddler? This wobbly polar bear craft is the perfect project! It’s simple to make, even with an excited toddler.

My son wanted to craft and this was simple enough to set up quickly. Crafts longer than 20 minutes just don’t work – this one took around 15 (without the prep time).

Here’s what we used:

White craft paper
Blue construction paper (for the scarf and ear details)
Glue stick
Scissors
Black marker
Bottle cap
Small bell for crafts (optional but fun!)

How to make the Wobbly Bear

I started by cutting out two white circles — one for the head, one for the body. (I made a printable below – afterwards) Then we added the scarf and little blue details for the nose and ears. My toddler loved helping glue everything down and drawing the bear’s face -luckily for the bear on the backside.

Once the front was done, we glued a bottle cap to the back as the “wobble base.” Inside the cap, we placed a tiny bell so the bear jingles when moved — my son loved playing with the bells. Sorting them and stuff.

Here’s where I made my big mistake: I attached the bottle cap the wrong way. It should’ve faced outward so it could rock back and forth, but I glued it inward, which made it tip forward. To save it, I glued another circle behind it for support — not perfect, but it worked well enough for a cute finish!

What I’d do differently next time

In hindsight, I’d make a template page first — one where I print and cut exact shapes so everything lines up neatly. Make sure everything is aligned to the middle. My circles were a little uneven, which made the wobbling harder.

If I make this again (and I will!), I’ll:

Use two matching bear outlines (front and back).
Cut the circles with a cup or circle stencil for smoother edges.
Double-check the bottle cap direction before gluing.

The result

Even though it’s not a perfect wobble toy, it turned out so sweet! My toddler was proud, we had a great time making it, and it jingles when shaken — that’s a win in my book.

Sometimes the almost-working crafts are the ones our kids love the most.
