🎨 Materials Needed For the Toilet Paper Roll Bunny Craft

You probably already have these at home!

✅ 1 toilet paper roll (or cardboard tube)
Recycled wrapping paper (floral, pastel, or plain)
✅ 2 googly eyes
✅ 1 white pom-pom (for the tail)
✅ 1 glue stick
✅ 1 black pen (for whiskers & mouth)
✅ 1 pink pen (for cheeks)
Scissors (Baby Safe)

✂ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Wrap the Toilet Paper Roll

Cut a piece of wrapping paper to fit around the toilet roll.

Let your toddler apply glue (because toddlers love glue 😆).

Wrap the paper around and press firmly.

➡️ Toddler Tip: This step helps develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Step 2: Make Bunny Ears

Cut two bunny ear shapes from cardboard or extra wrapping paper.

Cut smaller inner ears from wrapping paper for a cute contrast.

Let your toddler help apply glue and attach the inner ears to the outer ones.

Make a slit (around 1 cm) in the middle of the ear and stick the ears onto the roll. Here for the shape of the ears:

➡️ Toddler Tip: Your child can practice patience and precision while gluing.

Step 3: Add Googly Eyes & Draw the Face

Apply glue on the toilet roll and let your toddler stick the googly eyes (the best part for little hands!).

Use the black pen to draw a bunny nose, mouth, and whiskers.

Add pink cheeks for an extra cute touch. I accidently used glow-in-the dark googly eyes and now it’s a nightmare bunny at night… ups.

➡️ Toddler Tip: Sticking eyes is a great sensory activity for toddlers!

Step 4: Attach the Bunny Tail

Flip the bunny over and let your toddler glue the white pom-pom as the fluffy tail. You can do it with a glue-gun while your toddler naps too. It’ll stick better.

Press firmly and let it dry.

➡️ Toddler Tip: Kids love the soft texture of the pom-pom.

Step 5: Let It Dry & Play!

Once everything is glued in place, let the bunny dry for a few minutes.

Now, your little one has a cute bunny friend for Easter! You can use it as a decoration, a toy, or even make a whole bunny family.

➡️ Toddler Tip: Encourage pretend play! Ask your child to name their bunny or make it “hop” around.

🐰 Why This Craft is Great for Toddlers

Encourages creativity – Kids can pick their own colors and patterns.
Boosts fine motor skills – Gluing, sticking, and drawing help develop coordination.
Eco-friendly – Teaches the importance of recycling and using what we have.
Fun bonding time – A simple, mess-free (mostly 😆) way to connect with your child.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Can I use construction paper instead of wrapping paper?

Absolutely! You can use colored construction paper, scrapbook paper, or even let your child paint the toilet roll first for a personalized bunny.

2. What if I don’t have googly eyes?

No problem! Just draw the eyes with a black pen or cut out paper circles and color them in.

3. How do I make the ears stand up better?

If the ears keep flopping, try folding a small tab at the bottom before gluing them inside the roll. You can also use a dab of hot glue (with adult help) for extra hold.

4. Is this craft safe for younger toddlers?

Yes! But for little ones who still put things in their mouths, supervise closely and consider skipping the googly eyes or using larger, non-choking hazard materials.

5. Can I make this craft into a bunny puppet?

Great idea! Just glue a popsicle stick inside the bottom of the roll, and your bunny becomes a fun puppet for storytelling!
