29 Month Old Toddler Activities That Actually Work at Home

easy toddler activities for 29 month olds

Some days we craft… and some days we absolutely don’t 😅
After lunch and in the evening my toddler is tired, I’m tired, and I just need simple activities that still give us quality time without turning on the TV (because honestly… sleep gets worse when we do).

At 29 months he loves everything — messy, movement, creative, calm — totally depends on his mood. These are the toddler activities for 29 month olds we actually keep coming back to. Low prep, real life tested, and they help us connect while I still survive the day.

⭐ WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR MOST TODDLER ACTIVITIES AT HOME

We reuse everything. nothing fancy. And you don’t need all the stuff for all activities, just the basics we have at home.

  • recycled materials
  • stickers
  • playdoh
  • sensory bin fillers (snow, foam, mud, rice etc.)
  • markers + drawing board
  • random household items

🌟 TODDLER ACTIVITIES FOR 29 MONTH OLDS WE ACTUALLY DO

🧩 Fine Motor Play Doh Activity for 29 Month Olds

We roll, poke, cut, smash… repeat 😄 He hides toys inside, “cooks”, makes noodles, feeds animals and squishes everything. Sometimes independent, sometimes together — both work.

🍳 Pretend Kitchen Play for 2 Year Old Learning

He cooks while I cook or makes food for me in his toy kitchen. Parallel play magic. Honestly he uses the real kitchen more with his learning tower — pouring, stirring, helping.

🎨 Finger Painting Sensory Activity for Toddlers

Yes messy… but so worth it. After structured crafts I let him freely paint and explore. Paper + paint + full body bib + mat = survival setup 😅

❄️ Sensory Bin Play for 29 Month Old Toddlers

Scooping, pouring, hiding objects… this keeps him busy the longest. Snow, foam, mud — all hits. Next experiment: gelatin sensory bin.

🍪 Cooking Together Toddler Life Skills Activity

He pours, mixes, kneads dough, cuts with toddler knife, adds toppings. Takes longer but it’s real learning and real confidence.

🧸 Hide and Seek with Plush Animals

I hide animals, he searches like a tiny detective. Sometimes he hides himself inside the plush pile or makes grandma disappear under toys 😂

🥚 Egg Balance Game for Coordination

Image idea: balancing egg on spoon
Alt text: toddler balance game coordination

We slowly walk balancing an egg on a spoon. So much focus. Great movement + control practice.

🖊 Blow Pen Art Activity for Toddlers

Different from normal drawing so it feels new and exciting. Creative but low effort for me — win.

Blow Pen Dog Stencil Art

🧱 LEGO & Playmobil Imaginative Play

Stacking → storytelling → destroying → rebuilding. He loves pretend play with figures (always supervised).

📚 Book Time + Toniebox Listening Activity

Quiet time reset. He listens while playing and I get a little breathing space.

🪟 Window Clings Fine Motor Activity

Peel, stick, move, repeat. Easy win. Yes fingerprints everywhere… but worth it.

🚗 Outdoor Movement Play for Toddlers

Running, exploring, riding, climbing. Instant mood reset for both of us.

🎭 Pretend Play Monster Game

We chase, hide, roar. Pure joy. Zero prep.

🧼 Bath Time Sensory Play

Water play always resets his mood. Especially when he’s overtired.

🧩 Puzzle Activity for 2 Year Old Brain Development

He concentrates so hard. Problem solving in action.

✏️ Drawing Board Activity for Toddlers

He draws, erases, asks me to draw, erases again 😂 Also learning responsibility… like closing marker lids (still working on that).
