Looking for a fun, no-fuss Halloween craft for toddlers? This apple stamping monster craft is the perfect mix of spooky and silly — and it’s so easy to set up with just a few supplies. I made this with my 2-year-old son, and it turned into one of our favorite fall crafts for kids.

Why Apple Stamping is Perfect for Toddlers
Apple stamping is a classic toddler art activity because it’s:
- Hands-on: Kids love dipping and pressing.
- Simple setup: Just cut an apple, add paint, and stamp.
- Creative: Each stamp turns out different — just like real monsters!
To make stamping easier (and avoid wasting too much apple), I cut the top of the apple into a handle. This made it perfect for my toddler’s little hands to grab and press down.

👉 Pro tip: If you’ve done other apple stamping crafts before, reuse the same apples! Ours soaked up leftover color from a different project, and the effect was awesome.

Supplies You’ll Need
- 1 apple (cut in half or with a handle on top)
- Washable paint (we used green and purple)
- Googly eyes
- Paper (we used sketchbook paper)
- Glue stick
- Paintbrush (optional — toddlers love to add strokes!)
- Optional: Magic Nuudles / PlayMais (the marshmallow-like craft sticks that attach with water) for monster features
How to Make the Apple Stamp Monsters
- Cut the apple – Slice the apple in half. For easier toddler stamping, cut the top so it works like a handle.
- Dip and stamp – Press the apple into washable paint or paint on it and stamp onto paper.

- Add monster features – Stick on googly eyes, draw mouths, or use PlayMais/Nuudles for silly shapes.
- Get creative – My toddler used a brush to add strokes and even pulled the eyes off all the monsters to pile them on one apple — the funniest monster of them all!

Why We Loved This Craft
I wasn’t sure how well apple stamping with a 2-year-old would work, but the results were better than expected! The stamps looked just like quirky monsters. He did draw around on the paper a bit lol. And he did take off the googly eyes a few times.
This is a great way to:
- Practice fine motor skills
- Explore colors and textures
- Create a fun keepsake for fall
