Crafts and activities for preschoolers

Farm themes are one of our favorite ways to introduce early concepts like animals, nature, responsibility, and new vocabulary — without worksheets or pressure.

These farm animal crafts and activities for toddlers are designed for around 1.5 years to 6 years, mostly indoor-friendly, and easy to adapt for outdoor play if you want.
Each activity has a clear learning focus and a realistic mess level, so you can choose what fits your day.

This dog stencil craft feels a bit magical — you blow, and the color appears like spray paint for toddlers (without the chaos).

🐄 Visiting a Farm (Real-Life Farm Learning)

Mess level: 🔥🔥 (low–medium, mostly outdoor dirt)

Why we loved it:
Visiting a real farm made all our farm activities click. Seeing pigs, chickens, and goats in real life helped my 29-month-old connect our crafts and sensory play to the real world. He learned where they live, howt they eat, how they get cleaned. It’s one of those simple outings that turns play into real learning — and afterward, farm play at home suddenly became much richer.
